Diamond Street Houses
Tucked away on Diamond Street at Twelfth Street, (one block north of Douglas Avenue), one July discover two unusual, perplexing stone cottages. 1100 and 1102 Diamond Street employ random stone construction for the walls, ranging from pebble-sized stones to builders. Jagged parapet lines against the sky and huge stone lintels characterize these Stone Vernacular houses. Picturesque and unexpected, the Diamond Street houses are an offbeat complement to the somewhat formal and stylized Las Vegas stone architectural tradition.
