Lutz-Bacharach House

The Lutz-Bacharach House at 1003 Fifth Street, one block north of Carnegie Library Park, is one of Las Vegas' most imposing stone mansions. Built in 1884, perhaps by James H. Ward, the house features the heavy, bracketed cornice at roof line typical of the Italianate Villa style. Contrasting quoins (corner stones) and window hoods accent the massive stone construction of the house. A deep veranda was tastefully added in the 1920's, and the cast-iron cresting at top delicately caps the monolithic structure.
