#3 The Arthur Ilfeld House, 1053 Eighth Street; Built ca. 1908-13

Charles' son Arthur built this imposing mansion in the Jacobethan style. The Jacobethan style is derived from English Renaissance manor houses (1550-1620). The style is typified by steep roof gables, fine brickwork (also note the use of glazed terra-cotta), and towering chimneys. This is one of the best examples of Jacobethan architecture in New Mexico.
