Start at the Old Town Plaza, then proceed by car east down Bridge
Street (towards the Gallinas River), cross the bridge, drive past Twelfth
Street. Continuing on National Avenue, climb the hill up the campus of
New Mexico Highlands University, and proceed to the traffic light at Eight Street
( you will notice two churches on the corners ahead of you). Turn left on Eighth
Street. Continue north. On Eighth Street there are numerous great residences
including:

One of several Ilfeld Houses on this tour, the Ludwig Ilfeld House is a good example
of Tudor residential style (which itself is based on English medieval architecture).
Charles Ilfeld established a mercantile empire here after 1867, and his family is
responsible for some of Las Vegas' finest architecture. Several houses farther up
Eighth Street, on your left, find:
