#16 The Benigno Romero House, 2003 Hot summers Boulevard; Built 1874

The Benigno Romero House is one of the finest Territorial style houses in Las Vegas. Thick adobe walls, a Monterey-style cantilevered balcony, and elegant proportions distinguish the house. This is the house of the man who led the company to build the Plaza Hotel and also the Territorial Insane Asylum (now the Las Vegas Medical Center), still two of Las Vegas' largest employers. Now continue 1 1/2 blocks to the Plaza, go past the Plaza to South Pacific Street (at the southwest corner). One block past the Plaza, turn left on Moreno Street. One house past the corner is:
