By the 1880s the Queen Anne style began to wane and give way to the Colonial Revival. The J.H. Stern House combines elements of the Queen Anne style (the central, octagonal tower), free classical style (the porch columns) and Colonial Revival style (windows), and is a good example of eclectic, transitional architecture.
