Margarito Romero built this second rustic lodge, that contained forty rooms and a number of huge fireplaces, after his first El Porvenir Hotel burned down in 1905. The monthly rate for staying at the Hotel in 1899 was $30. The Hotel was one of many resort hotels located throughout this region. It was located at the base of Hermit's Peak, so that Margarito could be near his friend the Hermit, Giovanni Maria de Augustino. Margarito was the head of the Brotherhood of the Hermit, a society dedicated to Augustino. El Porvenir means "the future" or "the coming time." This building was completely remodeled after Margarito's death.
