Johnsen and Company Building
619 Douglas Avenue; Built 1883

When this stone rubble building was erected, it stood apart from the other buildings along Douglas, but by 1900 it was part of a continuing line of commercial structures. In 1914, Johnsen and Company gave the building a face lift, including restrained classical details such as the banded brick pilasters on the corners. Under the awning are excellent examples of Luxfer Prism glass transoms with pane details designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
