Carnegie Park District

There is a map of the Carnegie Park District available.

At first the residential area developed near Lincoln park adn south of Douglas Avenue thrived and attracted some of the city's more respected citizens. However, as Las Vegas continued to prosper during the 1880s, more spacious lots became available north of Douglas Avenue. Although some houses had already appeared in the Carnegie Park neighborhood by 1882, it wasn't until the 1890s that the residential boom would completely enclose the park.

Through the years the Carnegie Park district has been transformed by church and institutional buildings on its southwest side, therefore, it is not now a homogeneous residential neighborhood. However, the joint functions of the church (Immaculate Conception Catholic Church) and the city library insure that the neighborhood is well-trafficked and used by citizens and visitors alike.
