| Round House Ditch. Originally, this ditch diverted from the river even with Douglas Avenue and coursed southeast, irrigating the land in the area where Douglas and Railroad Avenue intersect. Because this spot was marked for development with the arrival of the railroad, irrigation was no longer needed and the diversion was moved in about 1879 to where it now diverts under the railroad trestle directly south of the Grand Avenue Round House. It's probable that this ditch was known by another name prior to 1879. |
