Acequia de Nuestra Senora de Los Dolores de Las Vegas, one of Las Vegas' oldest ditches, dating back to the 1830's, flows from the west river bank northeast of the Las Vegas Medical Center and ends behind the Mills Plaza shops on Mills Avenue. At one time this ditch was much longer, continuing across Mills Avenue to irrigate the large tracts of land east of Hot Springs Boulevard south to the old town plaza.
